I am a huge fan of interval training. So much so that I’ve pretty much abandoned the long cardio sessions I was accustomed to doing. However, I began to wonder how much interval training should be done during the week as well as how long the sessions should be. Interval workouts are various exercises that are done back-to-back, either timed or for a number of repitions. You can use only your body weight or a combination of free weights.

Concussions make headlines when they affect NFL players, and there is growing awareness that they can also affect teen athletes.

Every high school and college football program — as well as those for other high-contact sports — should have a concussion management program, says Mark Lovell, PhD, founding director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Sports Medicine Concussion Program.

Among his recommendations:

Put people on the field who understand the injury. This means doctors trained for this task and a certified athletic trainer.

Inspirational documentaries are some of my favorite to watch. The last documentary I watched was A Fighting Chance featuring Kyle Maynard. I received an email about My Run and felt that Terry Hitchcock’s story is definitely one to be shared.

My Run is the story of Terry Hitchcock, who ran 75 consecutive marathons in 75 consecutive days after losing his wife to breast cancer.

If You Aren’t Dynamic Stretching, You May Be Hurting Yourself

At age 33, I am stronger, more agile, and have more energy than when I was 17.
